The Environmental Health Program offers a variety of services aimed at improving the health and well-being of all Paterson residents.
- Inspections for complaints regarding no heat, rodent/vermin infestations, termination of utilities due to non-payment of bills by landlords, sewage and other nuisance complaints that affect the quality of life for the residents of the City of Paterson

- Inspections at retail food establishment as a result of consumer complaints
- Animal bite investigations and oversight of animal quarantine involved in an animal bite
- Lead inspections on rental units to ascertain the presence or absence of lead paint in properties build prior to 1978
- Inspections of public recreational bathing (pools) to satisfy the requirement of the State of NJ regulations
- Inspections of summer and day camps, aftercare programs, nutrition sites, homeless shelters, day cares, soup kitchens, pantries and institutions
- Pet shop licensure and inspection
- Inspections on tattoo parlors to enforce the State of New Jersey’s body art regulation
