The Vital Statistics Office registers and maintains the following vital records that have occurred in the City of Paterson:

  • Birth 
  • Death
  • Marriage or Civil Union 

Hours of Operation: 8:30am to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday (excluding legal holidays)

Customers can obtain vital records in the following ways:

What to prepare

  • Full legal name of person on record
  • Date of the event (Birth, Death, Marriage or Civil Union)
  • Verify that the event occurred in the City of Paterson
  • Proof of relationship to the person on record
